Interview with NYC Council District 33 candidate, April Somboun


Rampa News guest is April Somboun, who is running to become next New York City Council Member representing district 33, including Greenpoint. 

April is a Lao refugee and immigrant. He also is a mother of two, currently residing in Brooklyn Heights.

April believes that it is crucial to restore safety to NYC streets, especially in light of the recent hate attacks. She would like to see more NYPD officers on the streets to make that happen. She is also for a complete audit of the NYPD budget in order to increase it’s efficiency. 

April is a believer in “gifted and talented” program in NYC public schools. She also has a plan to help working parents with raising children. 

April also discusses issues such as affordability and helping small businesses.
