The 84th Kosciuszko Foundation Dinner & Ball took place on April 27 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. The Ball constitutes one of the most important events in the calendar of American Polonia.
This year the attendees celebrated the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Poland and the United States. As Ambassador of Poland to the US, Piotr Wilczek said, the Kosciuszko Foundation was instrumental in enhancing the cooperation during all those years.
Also, the Kosciuszko Foundation honored those who promote Poland and Polish heritage in the United States: the Kosciuszko Foundation Medal of Recognition Award was presented to Hon. Chuck Hagel, former U. S. Senator and Secretary of Defense and Vietnam Veteran, and the Kosciuszko Foundation Pioneer Award was presented to Tomasz Konieczny – the outstanding Bass-Baritone.
