- Nello, an Italian Restaurant in the Upper East Side, refused to allow a female patron to dine alone at the bar. At first she was told that no one was allowed to dine at the bar, but the woman pointed out a male patron was currently dining there. Nello said it is trying to stop sex workers from picking up client at their establishment
- Bao, a short film by Pixar about living food, was nominated for an Oscar.
