The city of New York has reconstructed busy Fresh Pond Road in Queens. The road now has a designated bus lane southbound, closed to regular traffic Monday to Friday between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The City hopes, it will resolve the congestion problem along the road, during the afternoon and evening rush hours.
However, because of the new regulations, 70 parking spaces are gone. Local property and business owners fear, it will kill their business, and they have filed a lawsuit against the City.
Councilman Robert Holden, representing district 30, opposes the plan, and has ideas on how to improve the traffic flow in other ways.
